Las Vegas is party central and can quickly turn into a big black hole for your budget. But… it doesn’t have to be expensive. Here are a few tips to help you save money on your trip to Las Vegas.
Tips for Saving Money in Las Vegas
Stay midweek. This is really going to maximise the amount of cash you can spend while you’re in Vegas. Las Vegas hotels are roughly one third the price from Sunday to Thursday. Avoiding weekends means you’ll be able to get a 4-star room in a hotel like Planet Hollywood for as little as $60 a night. Consider staying Downtown instead of on The Strip to save even more money.
Join Players Clubs. Each hotel network has a Players Club – a card you can sign up for and get benefits. The Wynn players club gives you a $20 gaming credit on sign up. At The Cosmopolitan you get to spin a prize wheel for freebies like spa vouchers, buffet passes and gaming credit. You use your players club card when you gamble (like a debit card) and it racks up points (like frequent flyer miles) that will give you access to more complimentary perks.
Ride the bus. There’s a great bus called “The Deuce” that runs up and down The Strip as far as Fremont Street Downtown. Getting a 24-hour pass for the bus is a good idea if you’re in town for the weekend and want to get around lots of different casinos. It only costs $8.
Drink for free. You can drink for free in every casino in Vegas! Even if you’re sitting on penny slots, cocktail waitresses make rounds and take drink orders. You won’t pay for the drinks but you’ll need to tip the waitress $1 or $2 for every drink. It’s still cheaper than a bar!
Don’t book shows in advance. Unless there’s something you REALLY want to see, it’s better to just pitch up and buy tickets from the TKTS booths around town. Booking on the day of a show can save 50% on the ticket price.
