Fight Fans Flock to Florida

Holidays to Florida are usually booked with sun, fun, and relaxation in mind, but this summer the Sunshine State is being invaded by adrenaline junkies of a slightly different sort to those who head to Orlando for the Disneyland experience.

That’s because the IBO World Bantamweight Title Fight is taking place at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, and boxing fans will be descending on the area to see Juan Carlos ‘Baby Pacquiao’ Payano take on Rau’shee ‘Nuke’ Warren for the vacant title.

The bout is hotly anticipated, with both fighters currently undefeated, and there will be some serious money spent on the fight at popular boxing betting destinations both online and on the high street.
The fight is sure to be a big hit in terms of entertainment, but what can boxing fans expect when they make the journey over to Winter Park?

The great outdoors
Winter Park is a great place to get outside in Florida’s almost constant summer sunshine, with more than 70 open spaces welcoming picnickers, cyclists and runners within the city.

Cycling is a great way to see the city, and anyone in town for the boxing would be well advised to take advantage of the 22 miles of paved cycling space that form the West Orange Trail. Also popular with rollerbladers, the trail crosses town and country to give visitors a flavour of the area.

More adventurous visitors can try their hands at paddleboarding on the tranquil waters of Lake Kilarney. The sport of paddleboarding is easy to learn, and a great activity for all members of the family to enjoy on the water.

Big Eats
Having worked up an appetite for food as well as fighting, Title Fight ticket holders will be spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing their fight night fuel.

Miller’s Ale House, with its all American barbecue and oyster bar might prove a popular choice, while fish fans can head to Mitchell’s Fish Market for the locally caught produce, and those looking for a big fill up can try the Outback Steakhouse, which takes an Australian approach to laid-back, meat-focused dining.

Knockout accommodation
After a breathless evening of boxing action, the spectators will be in need of a good night’s rest, and there will be a rush for rooms at The Alfond Inn, where luxurious interiors and extensive leisure facilities are on offer.

Elsewhere, the Hilton Homewood Suites in the Maitland area of Orlando provide good value lodgings, which might be an important consideration after a potentially pricey night out at the boxing match.
